Job Type: Full time or seasonal (summer) help (mostly for college students)

Starting pay: $23.00 an hour


Position Overview

A Remodeling Construction Worker at Timmerman Remodeling LLC helps complete residential construction and renovation projects from start to finish. Employees work directly at customer homes and are responsible for preparing job sites, removing existing materials, installing new materials, completing repairs, and making sure the finished work meets the company's quality standards.

Every day can be different depending on the project. Employees may work on kitchens, bathrooms, basements, additions, flooring, drywall, trim, doors, windows, decks, or other home-improvement projects.

Construction and Remodeling

Depending on the project, employees may:

  • Measure and mark materials for accurate cuts.
  • Perform basic framing and carpentry.
  • Install drywall and assist with finishing.
  • Install flooring such as hardwood, laminate, vinyl, or tile.
  • Install doors, trim, baseboards, molding, and other finish materials.
  • Assist with cabinet installation and other kitchen or bathroom work.
  • Paint walls, ceilings, trim, and other surfaces.
  • Make repairs and adjustments to existing structures.
  • Assist with decks, porches, additions, and other exterior projects.
  • Caulk, seal, sand, and finish surfaces to create a professional appearance.

Tools and Equipment

Employees may regularly use:

Provided:

  • Levels
  • Drills and impact drivers
  • Circular and reciprocating saws
  • Sanders
  • Nail guns
  • Hand tools
  • Ladders and other job-site equipment

Employees are expected to use tools properly, follow safety procedures, and take care of company equipment.

Needed:

  • Tape measure and pencil
  • Box-cutting/utility knife
  • Preferably a hammer
  • If you have your own tools and would like to use them, feel free to bring them

Working With Customers

Because remodeling work takes place in customers' homes, employees are expected to:

  • Treat customers and their property with respect.
  • Communicate professionally and courteously.
  • Keep noise and disruption to a reasonable level.
  • Protect floors, walls, furniture, and belongings from damage.
  • Keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Answer basic questions about the work when appropriate and direct project-specific questions to the supervisor.

End of the Workday

  • Clean up tools and equipment.
  • Remove or organize construction debris.
  • Sweep and vacuum the work area as needed.
  • Load tools and equipment back into the company vehicle.

What a Typical Workweek Looks Like

A typical week may involve moving between different stages of several remodeling projects. We are usually working on one job at a time because of our limited amount of employees.  Most likely you will be working on the same job for a certain period of time. (Anywhere between a couple days to a couple months). We could be doing anything from demolitions to additions.  This could include tearing stuff down to hanging doors, drywall, and windows or building walls or laying flooring.  We also do most of our own plumbing and electrical work.

  • Reliable and punctual

  • Willingness to learn new construction skills
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently when appropriate
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Basic construction or remodeling experience
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools
  • Good attention to detail
  • Ability to safely lift and carry construction materials
  • Valid driver's license preferred

Work Environment

Employees may work indoors and outdoors and should be prepared for changing job-site conditions. Remodeling work can involve physical labor, dust, noise, tools, ladders, and lifting materials. Employees are expected to follow all applicable safety procedures and maintain a professional and clean work environment.
